The Leadership Center was designed to house a large dining hall and spaces for classes or conferences. During the summer months the facility will be utilized exclusively by the Girl Scouts for their summer camping program. During fall and winter months the facility will be utilized by businesses for conferences and retreats. One of the main goals of the girl scout camp is for the visitors to gain an appreciation of nature while developing social skills. The primary concept for the Leadership Center was to create a structure that complimented the natural surroundings and fostered the experience of being surrounded by nature. The dining hall was located on a second floor with a band of large windows around the space, giving the feeling of being up in the trees. This project was completed while Dan Huffman, AIA was a principal at Cherry Huffman Architects (now RATIO Architects).
